Hoping to use your course towards your NBCOT certification?
We suggest contacting NBCOT to ask if they accept the activity for certification purposes. NBCOT has a fairly extensive list of qualifying criteria and the AOTA APP status is one of them.
Hoping to use your course towards your state licensure renewal?
Contact your relevant state board. A contact list is available on the AOTA website.
Unsure if a course or professional development activity is approved by AOTA APP?
If you are unsure if a course or professional development activity is approved by the AOTA APP please check out the list of AOTA Approved Providers in good standing. You may contact the Provider to ask if the PD activity is approved by the APP for AOTA CEUs. An AOTA Approved Provider will use the relevant marketing marketing material to highlight their status.
Here's how the the AOTA Approved Provider Program works:
The organization offering a continuing education activity must submit an application to AOTA and receive approval before the activity transpires. The APP has a review process and normally a revision process. If the application is approved, AOTA authorizes the provider to give AOTA CEUs to attendees who complete the course(s). The attendees do not submit applications to us, the providers do.
Information to become an Approved Provider may be found here: https://www.aota.org/career/continuing-education/approved-providers/approved-provider-program-prospective-providers
At the present time, if this provider has not submitted an application to us you would not be able to receive AOTA CEUs for the training you received. A list of AOTA Approved Providers may be found here: AOTA - Approved Providers
The AOTA APP requires that Providers identify approved professional development activities in two ways:
a) Marketing materials must include the APP logo, statement, and number of AOTA CEUs/contact hours.
b) Certificates or letters of completion must accurately reflect the credits awarded in both AOTA CEUs and contact hours. It is recommended that the provider use the APP logo, statement and provider number, and/or PD activity approval number as well.
Marketing materials and certificate of completion will indicate the number of AOTA CEUs assigned to the activity.
